Raven O is known as a brilliant live performer, the entertainer the stars come to see. His incredible range of singing, improv and comedy skills has made it possible for him to MC and perform for major events like Simon Cowell’s 50th birthday party. Some of the stars who have come to see him… Jude Law, Madonna, Sting, Josh Lucas, Lindsay Lohan, Mary J. Blige, Allan Cumming, Kevin Spacey, Kate Moss….the list is endless. In 2010, Raven used his powerful crooning skills in his critically acclaimed Off Broadway show, “Raven O, One Night With You”
Raven O is currently working on a project in Miami Beach. In the past few years he had gigs in London, Las Vegas and Provincetown. He had a hugely successful six year run as ”The Ringleader of Debauchery” for The Box nightclubs in New York and London. Before The Box, Raven O was a star in Cirque Du Soleil’s “Zumanity” in Vegas for 3 years. In the past few months he packed NYC venues Joe’s Pub, The Duplex and The Metropolitan Room for his trademark live jazz perfomances.
Raven O’s 35 years as an entertainer started in Hawaii. His first major gig was in ABC’s highly rated “Movie of The Week” ,” A Vacation in Hell” which starred Maureen McCormick (Marsha Brady “The Brady Bunch”), Barbara Feldon (Agent 99 “Get Smart”) and Priscilla Barnes (“Three’s Company”). Raven O was 14 and played a young native boy who was hunting with his father. He was mistaken as a wild animal by a group of lost American tourists and was stabbed to death. Years later he would have featured roles in films like “Flawless” with Robert De Niro and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman also,”Slaves of New York” as well as Levi’s commercials and an episode of “Absolutely Fabulous.” Raven O is also known for his skills as a director and choreographer working behind the scenes in major TV commercials (watch Black Label here) music videos (watch Adeva here) and nightclubs around the world.
At 17 Raven O won a dance contest in Honolulu. The grand prize was trip to New York but the producers could only afford a one way ticket. At age 18, his first big break in NYC was a landing a job as one of the first go go dancers at the infamous Limelight Nightclub. Other gigs included a tour as a singer with Sylvain,Sylvain of The New York Dolls and a ten year run with Joey Arias and Sherry Vine in the legendary cabaret club BarD’O where he refined his style and passion for singing Jazz and Standards.
